Highlight Video How-To Guides

Recruiting film only works if the person watching it can follow it, and most of the questions athletes ask come down to the same worry: how do I make sure the coach actually sees me? These guides answer that question in practical detail, one task at a time.

They fall into three groups. Effect guides explain the techniques themselves — circling a player, spot shadows, freeze-frames. Editor tutorials walk through the exact clicks in tools like CapCut and Premiere Pro. And the without-Hudl guides are for athletes whose teams don't subscribe to Hudl but who still need Hudl-style highlights.

Everything here is written for high-school athletes and their parents doing this themselves, often the night before an email goes out to a coach. No filmmaking background assumed.

Once your circle technique is sorted, the bigger question is what film to put it on. Our sport guides break down what coaches evaluate in each sport, and the recruiting guides cover the differences between D1, D2, D3, and NAIA.
